Help children master letters via a multi-sensory approach designed by an occupational therapist. Visual, verbal, and kinesthetic cues review and reinforce proper letter formation. Simple, yet fun, this program is ideal for first grade and some kindergarten students.
What is the START SENTENCES approach?
In this workbook letters are grouped according to similar formation. For example, letters a, c, e, o are grouped together and called the “All Around Group.” START SENTENCES reviews one lower case letter group at a time before moving on to the next group. Upper case letters are reviewed as well. In addition, verbal and visual cues are provided as kids practice through saying the “Letter Story” for each letter.
What makes Handwriting Help for Kids and START SENTENCES unique?
1- “Letters groups” are organized according to similar formation. This means that children learn letters with similar kinesthetic and pencil movements, such as with the ”Tall Pals” group (letters b d h k).
2- “Letter Stories”, unique to this program, provide consistent verbal, visual, and kinesthetic cues to help kids master correct letter formation.
3- “Starting Stars” show children where to start letters.
4- Tricks to stop common lower case letter reversals are also provided in this resource.
