The goal of this assessment is to show you where your students are in terms of readiness for first grade math. It doesn’t include a score, but it gives baseline evidence to demonstrate future growth, and it provides information for you to establish math groups.
I usually do this assessment with my students over two days. The thumbnail of the cover sheet shows the tasks that the children are asked to do. Most of them are correlated to the Common Core Standards for kindergarten so you can see what they remember or have lost over the summer.
Children will need a pencil, scissors, colored pencils/crayons, and glue.
If you like this product and it fits your teaching style, please also look for my math assessments for Day 60 (end of first trimester), Day 120 (end of 2nd trimester) and Day 180 (end of year). Doing these assessments gives me a portfolio of evidence of my students’ progress and gives me the information I need to fill out report cards and re-mix my math groupings, if necessary. They are Common-Core aligned.
