Description

By the end of kindergarten students are expected to be proficient in specific skills that are necessary for them to know to be successful in first grade. This download contains the kindergarten CCSS assessments that are necessary to measure your students depth of math knowledge as well as enrichment activities that are designed to introduce students to the standards they may have missed or need practice with. The assessments can be done as a whole or small group. The assessments are meant to be kept in student portfolios as an example of formative assessment that are used for placement purposes.

The standards are broken up into three units:

Unit One measures: recognizing and writing numbers 1-20, accurately counting objects, counting forward starting with the number one, counting by 10, counting forward with a number other than one, comparing objects using greater than-less than-equal to, number consistency, drawing according to number, and comparing number using greater than-less than- or equal to.

Unit two measures: addition and subtraction using objects, adding and subtracting up to the number 10, decomposing numbers less than 10, fluently add an subtract up to the number 5, and determining the number needed to make 10.

Unit three measures identifying objects by attributes and sorting objects.

The practice pages contain child friendly characters and high interest activities that include cut and paste activities. They can be used in the classroom in a whole group, small groups, or in centers. They can even be used as homework.
