PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Mega Math Practice 1.NBT.1 introduces the Numbers and Base Ten standard by giving your students a lot of practice counting on to 120 from any number and one to one correspondence. 1NBT.1 is all about creating a solid foundation in counting and number sense to 120. Gaining a foundation with this practice will give your kiddos a head start on the rest on the work in the NBT standard. Students need many opportunities to work with all new math skills. This practice is important for your students to master in order to understand higher level math concepts.

This unit is aligned with the First Grade Common Core Math Standard 1.NBT.1:
Extend the Counting Sequence.
Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, read and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral.

It includes this counting practice:
Complete the number lines to 120 (10 pages)
Fill in the parts of the 120 charts (10 pages)
Complete the 120 charts:
Look for the pattern - Describe the pattern (12 pages)
Counting objects (10 pages)
Open number lines (12 pages)

It includes fifty-two pages of practice with a year-round theme. I use these pages during our “written math practice” rotation during math workshop/guided math time. These pages can also be used for early finishers or homework during the time that you teach the 1.NBT.1 math strategy. Watch for more MEGA MATH PRACTICE units to come aligned with the Common Core State Standards.

I use ‘guided math’ in my classroom. I begin my teaching time block teaching/spiraling math concepts as a whole group, but most of my math block is devoted to guided practice in small groups followed by independent or small group practice, centers and intervention. I begin my math time every day with a page from my “Number of the Day” series.

I hope that you and your kids enjoy this fun resource. Check out my store for lots of fun math units including my popular Number of the Day units for grades K-Second.

Enjoy!
