### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This video teaches children that they can add numbers in any order. In my class, we do just about exactly what you see in the video: One or more children lead the group as the whole class switches their hands back and forth while the song plays. It's a simple way to teach this concept using audio, visual, and kinesthetic modalities.

This 1st grade addition song is aligned with the first part of the Common Core standard CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.B.3:

Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract.2 Examples: If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition--taught in a different song.)

Along with this video, you'll get:

1. A link to the video on Vimeo, where you can stream it outside of your TpT account and download it (for classroom use only). Use for whole-class lessons, small group lessons, and centers.

2. Black-and-white lyrics. Print these for each child. You may want to include these in math or song notebooks. Children can also read lyrics without the music whole-class, independently, with partners, or as part of guided reading groups.
