#First Grade Math Journal-You need this journal if you're teaching first grade math!! Why should you spend time typing out math problems when I did it for you?
This is my second math journal. ￼This math journal contains three types of problems-Result Unknown, Change Unknown, and Start Unknown.
I arranged them in that order using the same language but different numbers to give students practice solving all three types of problem.
These problems meet the Common Core State Standards 1.OA.1.
You can use this journal with second graders who need extra practice mastering these skills.

Copy one set for each student. Bind them together as a journal.
1. Students should tag important words (underline) in the word problem.
2. Students draw how they solved the problem.
3.Students write the numerical sentence.
4.Students write a complete sentence restating the problem as a solution sentence.
The problems vary in difficulty. You may decide to differentiate instruction by creating a more challenging journal from some of the problems.
Can be used whole group or in a math center.
My students have had great success with this format. I hope your students will, too!
