Classroom Phonics Sound Cards & Mini Posters
This product includes sound cards to help you create super cute spelling anchor charts with little to no effort on your part AND a pop of color added to your classroom.
How to use:
Classroom Décor: Hang up all year as a “banner” or change out with each spelling pattern grouping (short vowel, digraphs, etc.)
Whole Group Phonics Lessons: Use one card at a time to lead a whole group phonics or spelling lesson. Attach the card to an anchor chart/poster or a sentence strip and brainstorm words that include that particular pattern. You can hang this around the room for students to refer back to during lesson or independent station time.
Small Group Guided Reading or Intervention: Use one card at a time to brainstorm words that include the word family pattern that you want to focus on for the day. OR use several flags as “flashcards” during your small group warm up.
*Also includes an EDITABLE version of all six sound card colors so you can create your own flags if the pattern or word family you need was not already included. This editable file requires Microsoft Powerpoint to use.

Spelling Word and Phonics Pattern Lists
These spelling and word family lists can be used in a variety of ways:
•Spelling Station to spell the word pattern of the week. This means I only change out the spelling or word family list each week and the activities can stay the same! Super low-maintenance!
•As a “go to” list for teachers when generating word families whole group phonics/spelling instruction
•A list of words for teachers to review during small group warm ups for guided reading or interventions (make flashcards, build words, manipulate phonemes with plastic letters, etc.)

No Prep Build A Word Station
How to Use:
Students are given the phonics/spelling pattern and they must add one letter (or more) to the word family to create a new word. Then the student must write the new word three times (in pencil, crayon and marker).
I have found in my own classroom that students love this activity because using pencils, crayons and markers is fun and engaging to them.

Short Vowel Word Family Puzzles
These word family puzzles allow students to work independently practicing reading word families and matching correct pictures. One of the great benefits of this resources is the self-checking feature of the puzzle shapes.

How to Use
These short vowel CVC puzzles can serve SO many different purposes in your classroom!
For the basic level, students must:
• Identify the picture
• Match the onset
• Match the rhyme
• Read the word
For an advanced level, students can:
• sort them into the different families (an, at, ag)
• write a sentence using one word
• write a story using as many of the words as possible
• turn all letter cards over and play a memory game to make the different words
To use in a guided reading group or RTI/intervention group:
• Help students read/sound out the onset
• Help students read/sound out the rhyme
• Guide students to blend the onset and rhyme together
• Help students find the matching picture
