Product Description
This lesson is compatible with the 1st Grade Next Generation Science Standards* 1-PS4-4 which states that the students will “[u]se tools and materials to design and build a device that uses light or sound to solve the problem of communicating over a distance.”

This lesson culminates the abstract concepts of sound and light waves using a fun, engaging design challenge. Students will use their knowledge of the properties of light and sound to create a stage, lighting, and instruments for a Bluegrass Bears concert put on using teddy bears! All of this can be done using household items, such as rubber bands, glue, lamps, and cardboard boxes!

*It is recommended that you complete the Waves of Light and Sound Lesson before completing this one so students have an understanding of the properties of light and sound.
