There are many benefits to including poetry into your daily classroom instruction. Poetry helps develop fluency and rhythm. It also helps develop memorization skills. I use poetry daily in my 1st grade classroom during my Phonics instruction. With daily repetition and practice, students are able to read our poem of the week independently by Friday.
Every Monday, I begin with a visualization activity. I read our poem aloud and then for the second read, ask students to close their eyes and visualize the poem in their minds. We take a few minutes to draw what we see and then share our work with our friends. This poetry visualization pack includes visualization 1/2 sheets of paper to go with over 150 poems.
*You will need the two phonics poetry books listed below to use this product*
