Possible Teaching Scenarios to use in Whole Group or Rotation Station
Monday: Mini Lesson Introduce the new spelling words and model sort. Allow students to come to the pocket chart and sort words. Also, pass out spelling words to send home for practice. In addition put spelling words worksheet in a station.
Tuesday: Students cut apart words and sort them in an interactive notebook.
Wednesday: Give students another copy to cut apart and sort on their desks with or without a partner. See who can sort the fastest!
Thursday: With a partner, play matching with 2 sets of flashcards.
Included are 9 weeks of word study and spelling.
Each week contains 7 pages.
Page 1: Header cards for teaching with pocket chart or chart paper for mini lesson (You may want to put these on card stock and laminate for future uses.)
Page 2: Words to demonstrate sorting using header cards for mini lesson. (These may be card stocked and laminated to use in the future.)
Page 3: On level interactive student worksheet for students to sort cards. Three activities to use these with. 1. We glue into our interactive notebooks. 2.We cut apart and turn them over on our desks to do a quick ‘race’ sort whole group or stations. 3. We do these activities again in reading stations. I switch it up to keep it fresh. For below level students, I just use less cards from this worksheet according to their ability.
Page 4: Above level interactive student worksheet for students to sort cards. Please see above activities, but use this sheet for above level students.
