Trade was an important way of life for all Indigenous cultures of North America. Students role play as a trade representative from their own tribe. Students use trade item cards to exchange for items they need to survive the winter. Students will experience three rounds of trading. Round 1 explores trade between Indigenous communities before European contact. Round 2 deals with trade with the explorers and first contact of Europeans. Round 3 explores the Fur Trade, the establishment of a Trading Post and the treatment of Indigenous people.
