This digital resource for First Nations in Early Canada is meant to be used with a student's Google account. You can add this file to Google Classroom or simply share it with students. When you download this file it will provide you with a link to a Google Slides presentation. You will need to make a copy of it to add it to your own Google Drive.
Students can use this resource independently, with a partner or with support. They can work their way through each activity. Within this resource there are links to various places around the web that students will visit to read, watch, or interact with information about Early Settlers in Canada. This file contains a link to a youtube video so please ensure that you have access to youtube at your school before purchasing this file.
There are several activities for students to complete with this resource such as:
-playing a memory game about various items of importance to life for early First Nations peoples and recording their learning in a slide in the presentation.
-Read about things that early First Nations either discovered or invented and record your learning.
-Watch a youtube video about residential schools and record answers to questions.
-Play an online game and answer questions about your learning.
-Create a pixel art design to represent the use of beads using Google Sheets
-Research one group of Canada's first peoples and create a poster using Google Drawings or Slides to demonstrate knowledge about various aspects of that group (e.g., housing, food/hunting, transportation, special ceremonies, and family/social life.
