PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Guide students to write a complete, well-structured, and creative story with this menu of story choices. Teaching descriptive writing with this scaffolded approach has done wonders for fleshing out my students' writing and giving them a better sense of what is necessary in composing a complete, satisfying narrative.

This product is for a menu that asks students to write in first person and in a journal/diary format, much like Steve's in the book Monster by Walter Dean Myers.

After completing the menu, I usually have my students write at least three entries: one set in jail, one during the trial, and one describing the aftermath/resolution.

Story menus offer a more structured approach to creative writing that is sure to get even your most resistant, lost writers excitedly weaving their own tales. The limited choose your own adventure style of choices for character description, plot events, and setting ensures the end product will include the entire plot mountain, but still offers plenty of room for creativity and imagination.
