This is a phonemic awareness card game. Students will work on First Sound Fluency. This is great practice for FSF on the DIBELS. There are 40 cards. Each card has a picture. Students will take turns picking a card, and saying the first sound in the word. There are also 16 cards that have either go again, or lose a turn. Students will love playing this game at centers, intervention, or independent work time.
To prep the game: Print the cards on cardstock, or laminate for long term use. Cut out the cards, and place them upside down in a pile. Let students take turns picking a card. The students say the first sound in a word or if they pick a special card they follow the directions on the special card. Game is over when time is up or all the cards are gone. You could have the winner be the student with the most first sounds cards or just play for fun!
