The First Strokes Preschool Print Workbooks were developed to help students learn handwriting with correct sequencing. Letters are categorized by their “First Stroke”. Cognitive cues are given for each letter using the First Stroke terminology. The letters are written large, and in an outline format, so that students can trace the letter and then try copying the letter. If a student can achieve drawing the first stroke of a letter correctly, then sequencing of the remainder of the letter formation is usually correct. Handwriting legibility tips, and reversal strategies are also presented for each letter. The Preschool workbooks are developmentally appropriate for preschoolers aged 3 – 4. It is recommended that the instructor purchase a copy of the First Strokes Multi-sensory Instructors Manual. The workbook can be used without an instructors manual, but the manual gives multi-sensory instruction for how to make the program progress from large, to medium motor to small motor (workbook) activities. Students should be able to write the letter in the air, and in giant handwriting lines, before doing the workbook. The workbook is in greyscale, not in color (except for cover).
