These first-then boards allow students to see the work hat needs to be completed in order to receive their ’incentive’ or ‘reinforcement’. This visual helps students know teacher expectations and allows them to see when a break is coming up!
You can use dry or wet erase markers to ‘check-off’ circles as students complete activities, and have a written reinforcer at the end or Velcro pictures of activities.
For students who can not complete 3 tasks, the second board is best. It focuses on completing one task then being reinforced!
For example, if the student can’t follow a picture schedule, a first-then schedule would work.
