The lessons I have created and planned for the first week of school are intended as a basis for establishing rules and routines in the classroom. These are social skills lessons for teaching appropriate school behavior for students with disabilities. Teachers will need to modify lessons to fit the needs of their individual students. These lessons are intended to take approximately forty to sixty minutes each. Teachers may choose to break up lessons and teach a particular skill over multiple days. Some lessons may also require supplementary skills to be taught before hand.
These lessons are intended for students with social, communication, and behavior deficits. The lessons in this guide are aimed to help increase the social skills of students with moderate disabilities using effective interventions and strategies embedded in each lesson.
