Have fun teaching even the simplest numbers and vocabulary with the activities, games, and songs in this lesson including the French Math Olympics! Teach numbers 0 to 12 so that students recognize them and can use them without a second thought! Stay in the target language over 90% of the time and keep the fun times going the first week the activities, games, and songs, in this lesson that will allow even students with zero French knowledge to function in the target language in your classroom within the first few days of school.
This lesson is designed for the secondary classroom (6-12+) and teaches the French alphabet as well as all five accents, but could be easily adapted for the primary classroom.
The lesson includes the following:
-8 pages of detailed teacher procedures
-3 input activities/games with student handouts (reading/listening) with one available to view in preview
-4 output activities (speaking/writing) available to view in preview
-instructions for playing Math Olympics which includes the following games for numbers 0-12: flyswatters, math problem relay race, buzzer game, avalanche!, and more
-lyrics with pictures and gestures for the traditional song, "Un, deux, trois, nous irons au bois"
-instructions for playing "Toute Rouge," a wild version of musical chairs using the included cherry cut-out cards which will have even the coolest tweens or teens smiling and having fun!
Your students will amaze themselves with what they will be able to do by the end of this lesson! This is a great way to set the tone for your classroom and create an immersion experience starting the first week. This is the third of seven lessons that make up the first unit that I do with my French I classes that takes about 2.5 to 3 weeks on block scheduling.
As with all of my products, this lesson is classroom tested!:)
