This is a two-page page writing activity that will really get your students thinking about what they would like to learn and have learned in your classroom all year long!
In this activity, students begin by writing down one thing they would like to learn that starts with each letter of the alphabet on the first day of school. For example, A addition, B bugs, C cocoons, etc.
On the last day of school, students are given the second half of the writing activity and write down one thing that they actually learned in the past year that starts with each letter of the alphabet.
Make sure that you hold on to your students' first day of school writing activities so they can compare and contrast their answers on the last day of school!
Four different printables are included in each set featuring fun kids ready to work with their clipboards in hand.
Suggestions for lower grades:
Have students work in pairs or groups and summarize what they have learned in all the subjects taught during the school year at once.
Suggestions for upper grades:
Have students work individually and/or in pairs and summarize what they learned one subject at a time.
Ex/1 page for ELA and 1 page for Math
Or…you could even lead the discussion yourself and use it as a whole class activity! Have fun with it! It’s the first and last day of school!
