This bookmark has been a lifesaver this year as my students and I transition into the CCSS using the new Lucy Calkins writing curriculum for first grade.
It is a far more rigorous but much more rich and rewarding curriculum.
As such, students need lots of scaffolds and reminders; anchor charts are wonderful, but this bookmark is a lifesaver for students to use when they are writing independently.
I cut them out and laminated them and gave each child one. We reference them often as a group and in my 1-1 conferences and group conferences. Students love being able to talk about their piece in reference to where they are. I often hear things like "I just finished step 3 and am moving on to step 4; do you have any questions for me to help me revise?"
Awesome! Enjoy and happy writing!
