Emotion regulation is the ability to recognize and manage one’s own feelings — especially in those situations that evoke strong feelings — and then respond appropriately in those situations. It is very important for kids to learn how to manage their feelings so they can handle all kinds of situations without becoming too stressed or upset. These lessons and carnival theme game will teach students that problems come in different sizes, and it’s important to respond appropriately with expected behaviors rather than respond inappropriately with unexpected behaviors. Students will also learn three calming strategies that will help them manage their strong uncomfortable feelings.
These scripted lessons and activities can be used in the small group setting, classroom guidance lessons, and individual counseling sessions. Printer-friendly student pages and handouts are included as well. These pages use less ink.
