There are two different options for this file.
Option one would be to print and laminate the cards. The kids would count the fish, and then cover "rocks" at the bottom of the bowl with colorful counters (or play-doh balls). The kids would then practice writing the number on the line that is provided.
Option two has the kids counting and coloring the rocks, and then drawing the correct number of fish. The kids would then practice writing the number on the line that is provided.
This activity covers kindergarten common core math standards:
-K.CC.3: Write numbers from 1-20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral.
-K.CC.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
-K.CC.5: Count to answer "How Many?" questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
