This is a fun craft to do with your students. It also lends itself well to a procedural writing piece afterwards!
I am in charge of writing instruction for an incoming 1st grade group, two 2nd grade groups, and a 3rd grade group at my school. In this product, you will find the general procedure for a fish craft we created. I made the same craft with each group of kids and simply differentiated the assignment based on their needs.
To prepare, I simply made a fish template out of tag board and traced it onto pieces of white construction paper (using a Sharpie/dark marker).
*After you finish the craft with your students, discuss the different steps you followed. Print and cut out pictures to help students remember. After discussing steps, present students with one of the following organizers. This should be guided!
*I also included an organizer for an opinion piece. I used this as an additional paragraph with my 2nd/3rd graders.
