Explore complex characters from the amazing novel "Fish in a Tree" by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. Perfect companion for a class read aloud or independent study. This type of response is a favorite in my class because it is engaging, thought provoking, and really, really FUN! It asks students to analyze multiple perspectives of the same event.
Character Perspectives - 20 situation cards are provided. Students must identify how two characters would feel/react in that particular situation. Students have the opportunity to create a colorful cover that is divided down the middle. Each side represents a different character to compare the reactions and feelings about the same situation. Inside is a full page response sheet. Each is devoted to the perspective of one character or piece of text. The middle section is a place for summaries, factual information, and identification of the problem/solution.
Character Traits - Students identify specific character traits and provide textual evidence supporting their choices on a mini poster that can be displayed around the classroom.
