I have created exit slips for the novel "Fish in a Tree" by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. Each exit slip appears twice on one sheet of paper (it will be easy for you to cut in half for your students). The exit slips are great for guided reading groups, independent reading check-ins, or as a way to monitor comprehension for class read alouds. The questions require students to make inferences based on their reading, look at the symbolism used, identify how characters will impact the plot of the story, analyze figurative language used in the novel, etc. The questions require students to use evidence from the text to support their thinking as well! There is one exit slip for each chapter in the book (51 exit slips total).
