WAIT!! This is included in my Fish in a Tree Complete Kit for only $10 total. Check it out first!
It is a wonderful book about a girl named Ally who has hidden her inability to read until a wonderful teacher comes along and helps.
Welcome to Fish In A Tree Chapter Summaries! Each page you will find the students are able to summarize 4 chapters at a time. This is for two reasons, one most of the chapters are quite short and two, students need to be in the habit of summarizing more information, but not necessarily an entire book (think standardize test passage excerpts). I have also included one chapter summary sheet that is not labeled with chapters if you’d like students to summarize differently. Students also have the opportunity to Think, Wonder and Predict using metacognition thinking stems. Next up, they are working with words. Words to know, what they think they mean and finally, they look up the definition (context clues focus). Finally, they will be discussing their feelings for Ally after every fourth chapter to see how their thoughts and feelings change toward the character (think character traits and how the character changes).
Each page includes:
Chapter Summary grouped together in 4s ie ch. 1-4, 5-9 etc
Metacognition Thinking Stems: I think, I wonder, I predict
Context Clues Opportunity with Dictionary Skills
Character Traits and Changes: How student feels about Ally and why
