This is a great resource that can accompany any discussion about literature. Fishbowl discussions not only allow students to engage in valuable small-group discussions, but they also highlight good discussion practice so students new to small group discussion can learn what works and what doesn't. This is a generic evaluation that will work with any unit or text, but will still allow students to process what they discussed about the text and internalize what they observed about small group discussions. It works well as an assessment of the discussion activity.
Fishbowl discussions, and this evaluation, are great for front loading discussion skills for Literature Circles and for any students new to discussing literature.
