This is the classic game of Go Fish, but instead of regular cards, kids are using fraction cards. Students need to match a shaded fraction circle with the correct fraction number line.
*I found it best for my 3rd graders to write the fraction on the front of the card as they picked them up. It was difficult for a few of the kids to remember which fractions they had in their hand.
*For my 3rd graders, I only used the fractions that went up to eighths. As the year progresses, or if you teach 4th or 5th grades, you can probably use all of the fraction cards up to twelfths.
My kids had a lot of fun playing this matching game, and they really have improved on finding the fraction on the number line. They were already fairly good at finding the shaded fraction, but definitely needed some more practice with the fraction number lines.
Hope you and your kids enjoy!
