Getting Students Hooked On Reading.
Children work individually or in groups to see how many fish they can read, catch and write. These fish sight words are great for word work or literacy centres.
This download includes:
Sight word fish
( Primer, Pre- Primer, Grade One, Grade Two and Grade Three)
Evaluation lists for each level
Pages for writing practice ( Catch, read, write )
You will need:
- Fish Optional:
- Small paper clips - Fishing net
- Large paper clips - Bucket
Use small paper clips to create a clasp and attach it to the fish. The small paper clips will need to be bent before they are slid onto the fish. Finally, use a piece of tape on the back of the fish to hold the paperclip in place. The large paper clip is used to make the hook. In our class we used a straw and some string to make the rest of the fishing rod.
Once the fish have been completed your class can design their own game using the fish, rod, bucket and net. Your students will become more invested in learning the sight words when they have helped create their own learning resource. Happy Fishing.
