One great way of keeping my students engaged has been to introduce games into the classrooms. However, the problem I have had with many games is that there isn’t enough budget to provide my classroom with the variety of games needed to effectively review the wide range of content we are expected to teach. Because of this, I have created a series of games that allows students to practice any concept they have been taught in class, through a series of games that use a similar game mechanic. This mechanic is that the “dice” has been replaced by a set of cards that can be customized to accommodate the many different content areas we teach.
Within this game series, you will be able to add content, develop your own Question Cards, and scaffold the learning of your students by simply creating/ having your students create the cards that will guide their learning in each game.
In every classroom, there are students learning at different speeds. This adjustable Question Card feature allows your students to play with other students at any place on the academic timeline. One student could be working on converting an improper fraction to mixed numbers, while another might be practicing addition and subtraction.
Another problem I have found with games in my classroom is that they lack content that students are interested in. Sure they might be great for review, but many lack a connection to the student’s interests. The games in this series have a wide range of topics from crafting tools to searching for lost puppies. Connecting these interests through a constantly evolving game will keep your students engaged, and learning throughout the year.
Below is a free copy of the Question Cards that are used in every game. If you want your students to be challenged at their own level, review previously taught content, and truly engaged them in the learning process, give this series a try!
