Fishing for 10 is a great partner game to support making Quick 10's. Fishing for Fluency is a great way to independently support fluently creating 10's. Both games can be played as a follow up to a mini-lesson about Making 10's.
Print each child a deck of cards in color or in black and white. My students enjoy getting the black and white set and coloring their own fish to make a unique deck. These cards can be stored in a pencil pouch with a window and stored at the student's desk. As the year progresses add more game to the pouch that the child can play.
Fishing for 10 is played similar to 'Go Fish'. Ask your playing group for a certain number to go with a number you have to make a 10 pair.
Fishing for Fluency is played alone. Each child is working on making Quick 10's as fast as they can.
