During this lesson, the students will learn about what makes an interesting hook/lead into a writing piece. Then, the students will work in groups to search carefully for what makes an effective lead in both a guided practice and group activity. When we expose students to good models and aid them in generating leads, they will in turn see the importance of good introductions in their own writing. Finally, the students will compose effective leads for their own writing piece.
