This is a 16 page packet designed for grades 3-5 for a Physical Education Enrichment class. It includes topics such as
-Benefits of exercise
-How exercise benefits the heart
-How to check your pulse
-Examining resting heart rate and heart rate after exercise
-Breathing techniques to decrease heart rate
-Fitness activities and games
-Health related fitness concepts
-Skill related fitness concepts
-Nutrition (introduction to "My Plate"
-Nutrition serving size and food groups
The purpose is to introduce the above topics and have each lesson lead into the next, helping and guiding students to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
There are games/activities that go along with many of the lessons that can be done in various settings ranging from a normal physical education class in a gymnasium, to an all purpose room, and even including the classroom depending on what resources are available.
