“Fitness Tracker” is a cross-curricular assignment to give students practice with data collection and graphing, but also some insight into how they progress with an exercise.
Students choose an exercise to complete twice a day (for 30 seconds) for one week for a brain break type of activity. They record their results after each session.
Once the data has been collected, students graph their results to show their exercise progression and look for patterns in their results. This not only gives them the opportunity to work on their data collection in an authentic way, but also gives insight into how they exercise.
Included are exercise ideas, practice sheets for all of the math skills required for the assignment as well as a checklist assessment.
