Product Description
This file contains a video called Fitness to Focus, which is based on a couple different concepts. This video is a version of Simon Says where students will need to use listening skills to perform exercises, math equations, spelling, and reading while all be down at or around their desks in the regular classroom. This activity can be done at any age level because the words, equations, etc. pop up on the screen for students to follow along with. The whole idea of fitness to focus is to keep the kids focused in the regular classroom throughout day, which seem to be very long for some students. Every student needs some sort of break within the learning environment they are in. The Point of Fitness to Focus is that it is used as a tool to help those students get anywhere from 3-8 minute break within the classroom at their desk doing physical fitness routines pertaining to certain subject areas. For Example, if a teacher wanted to give the students a few minute break they would put this fitness to focus video on in their classroom and the students would follow along with the video performing the tasks on the screen right by their desks. The concepts could cover math, spelling, reading, writing, and some fitness exercises. This way the students are now learning while using fitness to help keep them keep on task because they aren’t just sitting( it’s a cross-curricular approach for multiple subject areas while in the classroom)…This allows more blood and oxygen to the brain which studies have shown to improve academic success within school – aged students. When students are more alert they begin to focus more on the things being taught and that’s the whole point of Fitness to Focus. This allows the teachers to put the video on and show a simple clip the students can do exercises while doing spelling words, math equations, or writing problems. There are also videos that just have the students by their desk performing simple routines for a few minutes to get up out of their seats. Try this activity for your class if you are looking for break time ideas for your students in a controlled environment. This allows for teaching to go on while getting the students moving and they don’t realize that they are exercising the brain both physically and mentally for a short time. Activities like these help get the students involved in a way to allow them to get focused for the rest of the class period or for the entire day. Try this activity if you are looking for new ways to get the students to pay attention if they start zoning out. It’s also great for long testing days to show the students for a couple minutes to allow them to get up for those standardized tests or any other materials that you are presenting over a long period of time. What’s the worst that can happen, the students at least get out of their desks for a few minutes to move. All videos are custom made and basic in nature, but they get the concept across to the class. Use them for breaks, class activities, rewards, etc. , enjoy!
