PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Engage your new students with these 9 thoughtful and creative activities during the first weeks of class! Each activity belongs to one or more back-to-school themes: Get to Know You; Goals; Reflections; Policies and Procedures; and Skill Review.

Note: This product includes all activities from Fitting into Fifth Grade (Original) except for the Friendly Feud PowerPoint game.

This .zip file includes the following activities:

--Application for an Amazing Year: This twist on the traditional student information form asks students to "apply" for an amazing school year on a form that combines elements of job and higher education applications.

--First Days' Letter to Myself: This template for a friendly letter can be used by students to write to themselves about their first days in 5th grade. It can be revisited at the end of the school year as a reflection activity.

--MyPods Activity: Students customize their own MyPod templates with apps that represent different aspects of their lives.

--The Mystery and History of the Fortune Cookie Activities: Students read and discuss a short informational passage about the history of the fortune cookie and then create their own cookies with fortunes for the year.

--Getting to Know Our Group Graphing Activity: All students complete a "Get to Know You" survey, then graph the data in small groups.

--The Life and Times of Me: What in the World Was Going On? Timeline Activity: Students apply timeline and research skills as they create a tier timeline of events in their own lives as well as national and world events that took place at the same time.

--Fact of Fiction Activity: This template can be used by students to write three facts and one fictional statement about themselves. When they share them, their classmates guess which one is fiction.

--Questions for the Teacher Activity: Create a comfortable and honest classroom environment with these cards that students can use to ask questions about your classroom and you during the first few days of school.

--Fifth-Grade Fast Facts Flip Guide: Students can write down, store, and refer to important facts about their procedures, schedule, grading scale, and more with their own DIY flip guides.
