Description

Build a Poem center activity for 5 Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate. The kids will want to retell, rebuild, and re-enact this poem over and over again. This is one of my students' favorite stations in October and November.

POEM

Five Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate.

The 1st one said: Oh my, it's getting late.

The 2nd one said: There are witched in the air.

The 3rd one said: But we don't care.

The 4th one said: We're ready for some fun.

The 5th one said: Let's run and run and run!

Then WOOO went the wind, and OUT went the lights.

And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

ACTIVITY

Hang the colorful rhyme poster near a pocket chart center. The kids build the poem, sequencing the large print word cards. When done, the students love to retell or sing the poem to the class - great for a shared reading activity.

Great for readers theater, poetry stations, poetry folders, a poem a day, rhyming, concepts of print, repetition, and sentence structure, for PreK, kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade.
