PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This PowerPoint works well as an overview or review for 3rd-5th grade students on the five main types of print reference books. The reference materials covered are:

Dictionary
Thesaurus
Encyclopedia
Atlas
Almanac

The PowerPoint is interactive in that it asks students to fill in questions as you go through the presentation. The animations fill in after you have had the opportunity to question students.

For my library classes I do a basic introduction to reference books with 2nd graders using this PowerPoint: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Reference-Books-Overview-Power-Point-Powerpoint-Presentation-587136

The link above is intended to introduce the books assuming students may not even be familiar with the words. This powerpoint here goes a little deeper making sure that students understand what the books are used for and how to navigate them.
