In this activity students read about the Qur'an,hadith and five pillars of Islam in a two page close notes reading.Then, students complete a common core worksheet that has them support claims with evidence and summarize the main idea. It comes with answer key.
As a further extension actvity option, students can use an e-mail template printable to write to an advice columnist (Ahmed). Students create a situation that includes a Muslim friend that has broken some of the pillars. Then, students respond as the advice columnist with a summary of the five pillars and some advice on how to handle the concern. The activity includes an example.
