Description
Do you need some engaging ways to get your students writing? These 24 task cards each show a location and prompt students to use their senses to write or say a detailed description.
This products includes 2 options: 24 Descriptive Writing Task Cards and 24 Slides. You can use the task cards as writing practice or as speaking practice for your ESL students. The larger slides can be projected onto your board as a warm up or to provide an example of how to use the task cards. When I use these slides as a warm up, I like to play appropriate music or sounds in the background. For example, I will play some tropical music or reggae for the “Tropical Beach” slide or nature sounds for the ”Rainforest” slide. Students love that part!
If you are using the task cards as a writing assignment, you can use 1 of the 2 included graphic organizers.
As as extension activity, you can have students write about their favorite place. For this activity, there is a graphic organizer and writing paper included.
One more idea: If you have technology available, students can research the location pictured on their task cards to gather more information, such as animals they might see or food they may taste.
