This is the fourth part of the series—Countries of the World: Flags and Capitals.
A lot of students today, whatever their age, do not know about the different countries of the world. This product introduces them to the 23 countries of North America. This includes the flag, the capital and the currency in use. With regular practice, they will be familiar with all these countries. It can really enhance their general knowledge and geography. There is no restrictive age group—it can be used with very young students as well as adults.
The zip file has one PowerPoint slideshow and 3 PDFs. Here’s how to use this product:
The PowerPoint slideshow can be the primary learning tool. The countries go alphabetically, and the flag is displayed on every slide. Upon a click, the other details (the country, capital and currency) appear. Hence, this could be used to test the students too at a later stage.
2) Flash cards
One PDF contains printable flash cards. Each page has 4 flash cards—the countries on one side, and their capitals laterally inverted on the other side. (Check the preview for a better idea.) Print the pages and cut each page along the solid lines, forming 4 compact flash cards. Now, fold each flash card along the dotted line and glue the ends. Alternatively, take thick card or paper of the same size and stick both sides of the flash card around it with glue. You can laminate these cards as it gives them a long life, or you can even use thin plastic to cover them to cut costs.
(If this sounds confusing, don’t worry; it will be clear when you preview the actual file.)
The second PDF contains two worksheets: a filling-in of blank spaces and a word search.
The third PDF has the answer key to both the worksheets.
All the best!
Note: Only sovereign states are included; disputed regions are not.
