Do your kids love flags? Do they know about the flags of the 50 U.S. states?
Try these task cards for your students to identify the 50 United States, based on their flags. The capital is given, as an additional clue.
There are 50 task cards, each with a state flag and capital. I have mixed them up, so they are NOT in alphabetical order.
The set has an answer sheet and answer key.
About half the states (26) include the state name somewhere on the flag and one other has the initials. You can use these to start, since they are easier, or you can remove them to make the game more challenging. Most almanacs have a section on world flags and on the 50 United States, which may include their flags. Students could also research the symbols on each state flag, using state books or encyclopedias from the school library.
Students can write their answers on the answer sheet, or just share them with the class.
