After reading the Patricia Polacco book, Aunt Chip and the Great Triple Creek Dam Affair, your students will learn about caring for books, types of books, how we use books, the parts of a book, and book dos and don'ts.
It's a great activity for the beginning of the year as you establish your classroom or school library expectations.
The activity begins when you read the wonderful book, Aunt Chip and the Triple Creek Dam Affair by Patricia Polacco. Aunt Chip shows the town how books and reading are an important part of our lives. This resource also includes eight guided discussion cards to be used by the teacher as the book is read to students. Discussion cards could be placed in a center with the book, for older students to answer. (No answer key is provided.)
