Product Description
Shape Tweens are a very enjoyable part of animation in Flash, and this activity is tailor-made to introduce students to this skill. Students eat this activity up, mostly because Shape Tweens are so cool to discover and watch. The students get an opportunity to pick an animal cycle and have these animal shapes morph into each other. In my example, an egg morphs into a tadpole, which turns into a froglet, and this froglet transforms into a frog. It is a truly engaging activity.

This project allows for differentiated learning, primarily by offering extension suggestions for the early finishers in class. The instructions are comprehensive and in the form of clickable and navigable interactive .pdf files. This project is ready to go out of the box, and students should be able to work independently on it.

Tips:
- Take the time to do this activity yourself prior to presenting to the students so you are familiar with the steps.
- I recommend that you tell students that their cycles should have 3-5 parts so that the students do roughly an equivalent amount of work and the scope of the project is controlled.
- Though I demonstrate a tracing technique, some of your more artistically inclined students may want to freehand draw their artwork. I always encourage this!
- If you have access to a scanner, students could also hand draw some artwork and then import it into Flash where it can be traced. This appeals to some students.
