Finally! Something to do with all those flash cards I pick up in the Target Dollar Spot and everywhere else!
I wanted to find a purposeful way to use my many sets of flash cards, so I created these writing center activity cards.
There are 2 options (or levels)
Option 1: question stems are provided and students read the card and find the answer. The questions are NOT specific to the card sets, so they could be used with any brand!
Option 2: open ended graphic organizer cards. These ask students to determine important vocab, important points the author made, compare, contrast, etc.
With my 2nd graders, I plan to start out with the question stem cards and move towards the graphic organizer cards later in the year. However, I know that some of my students will not be ready for those, so it's easy to just lay out the cards you want!
I also included a blank version of each option so you can type in the subject of the deck of flash cards OR, for a greater challenge, leave that blank as well and have students determine the subject. Perfect for mixing up multiple sets of flash cards, using rhyming or homophone cards, or multiple sets at once!
Flags of the World
Animals (comparing two cards-the newest set from the Dollar Spot has two animals per card)
Community Helpers (jobs)
and links to purchase additional sets of cards if needed!
I hope this helps you utilize those cute little flash cards too!
