Product Description
This Flashcards Kit is compatible with the sequence of instruction and the orthography presented in the book, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. This kit provides two, complete sets of flashcards, which may be used to reinforce the sound-symbol associations taught within the book. One set of flashcards is designed in black and white. The second set of flashcards is color-coded: consonant sounds are in blue and vowel sounds are in green.

It would be ideal to print these on cardstock, but it is not necessary.

Ways to use these cards:

Prior to starting a lesson, use these flashcards to provide your student with a brief, warm-up review of all previously taught sound-symbol associations.

Use these cards to strengthen sound-symbol associations. Provide the student with several cards (no more than 6 at a time). Say a sound aloud and ask the student to point the the symbol that matches the sound. Encourage the student to repeat the sound while pointing to the symbol.

Use these cards to practice phonemic awareness. Provide the student with several cards (no more than 6 at a time). Say a word aloud and ask the student to point the the symbol that matches the first sound he/she hears in the spoken word. Encourage the student to repeat both the word and the first sound while pointing to the symbol.
When your student becomes skilled with this exercise, you can increase the difficulty by asking the student to point to the symbol that matches the middle sound heard in a spoken word, or the final sound heard.

Use these cards to build words for your student to read. Be sure to include only symbols that have been previously taught to the student.
