At the end of the year, I like to get my students something they really could use. So I find little flashlights that might cost me a dollar or so. Then I attach this poem to the flashlight. We all want our kids to continue reading during the summer. Sometimes it takes a gimmick to get them going. Maybe this is the gimmick your kids need.
This is a one page download with two poems that have boys on them, and two poems with girls on them. Tie the poem to the flashlight with a string, yarn, or a ribbon.
Demonstrate how to use them and how important it is to turn the power off when they're done, so the battery will last longer.
