Super Project Ideas from Seaspray Illustrations has two new Flat Stanley style friends: Flat Steve and Flat Chloë, inspired by requests from my students. Templates sold separately due to my lack of technical savvy.
This two and half page document outlines the ways you can create a fun and rewarding project to study states, review or introduce "How to write a friendly letter", research state facts, take a field trip to the post office, and plan an open house to showcase the posters and other memorabilia the students may present for other classrooms, or family and friends during school. It includes ideas for getting Flat Steve or Flat Chloë ready to mail, researching state average temperatures for the week the Flat Friends will be away, and projected shipping cost, and outline the things that should be included on class state posters that the students will create to complement the photos and other pieces of state facts that the host family will send back with Flat Steve or Flat Chloë.
This may be the one big project students will remember for years to come.
One page has a sample poster of Alaska made by my granddaughter, Maggie in first grade. Second page shows Flat Chloë ready to travel to a sunny state.
