This unit can be used along with any of the Flat Stanley books. I have included several versions of the writing activities, so they are appropriate for multiple grade levels.
I use the original Flat Stanley as a read aloud. My class writes chapter summaries and completes a book review at the end. Each student makes a flat version of themselves. We write letters and mail them off to family members and friends. As the Flat Stanley's return we chart them on a world map. I also have the students write their own Flat Stanley adventure story. The other activities are used as needed and as extension activities.
This is a great way to make writing fun and to teach letter writing for real-life correspondence.
