Your students will love using this set to learn about community helpers in THEIR community! I have always love the concept of Flat Stanley and am thrilled to have a way to apply it to our kindergarten standards!
We opened the unit by reading Flat Stanley and the Firehouse. We then colored and cut out our own firefighter Stanleys and mailed them to our local fire station! We did the same thing for the police officer, astronaut, mail carrier, soldier, and others. There was not a Stanley book to match those, but it was a good opportunity to discuss each job and we would usually just choose another book to read. We mailed one Stanley to each location with a letter describing our project.
We then created a map of the places we mailed our Stanleys to, and would add the photos as they were returned to us.
This set includes Flat Stanley dolls for the following occupations: 2/page
1 General Stanley
